Please note:

I started this website in 2001 when I was still working as a tax professional. My vocation was to help small and medium businesses with accounting and taxes. However, many times I found myself being more than a business coach and adviser rather than just a plain old bean counter.

This site started out as more of a hobby project, really. Think about it...2001...except the big accounting firms and the dot com boomers had a presence on the internet?

I knew nothing about how to set up a web page, how to generate traffic and certainly nothing about web design (I still don't, in case you can't tell!).

I just wanted to learn about how to set up a web page and how to publish information on the internet, so what better topic to choose than something that I knew something about?

So, I started this site, using a service called Sitesell...you'll find a link to their site in my resources section. I just followed their outline, and this site grew in popularity and traffic beyond what I would have expected in my dreams.

For personal reasons, I decided to retire from the tax profession in 2004. I was going to shut this site down, but hesitated due to the number of thankful emails I received from visitors.

So, I left the site up and running, but didn't keep it up to date. Traffic remained steady, but I occasionally received some angry emails from visitors asking why I did not respond to their individual tax questions.

Please fast forward to late 2008.

I have reviewed the site and decided to keep it up and running. I've been updating mileage rates, tax tables, etc. In fact, I will even be adding pages on topics that I know a lot about; topice that I think is difficult for most business owners to grasp just from looking at the big sites out there. This is where I think I add value, but please be patient while I bring this site up to date.

The first message I want to convey is that I can no longer answer individual tax questions! Even if I had the time, it would not be ethical of me, because I no longer work in the accounting/tax industry. True, small business taxation does not change that much from year to year, and I try to stay on top of the latest developments, but I cannot any longer promote myself as an "expert" with good conscience. However, I will look into creating a tax forum on this board where visitors may ask questions and have them answered by tax professionals. Tax professionals are often willing to participate in forums and sharing information in the hopes of gaining long time clients.

Second, if you have a tax service or product that you want to promote on my site, please understand that I receive a lot of email. If I think your product or service is of benefit to small business owners or entrepreneurs, you will hear from me. If you don't, don't take it personal.
